Personal Home Organizing

Everybody has an organizing project they’ve been putting off for far too long. It’s nothing to be ashamed of! R&O is here to maximize your quality of life by helping you complete that project, regardless of whether it's the smallest closet in your house, or the whole house. We want to transform your space into the personal sanctuary you deserve. We work side by side with our clients to develop systems that work for them individually, allowing them every opportunity to increase productivity and efficiency in their lives. Life Management Consulting

As the lead organizer at R&O, I respect the old saying about “teaching a person to fish” so much so that I am happy to provide you a step-by-step guide to implement the organizing skills that built me a successful business. After the initial spatial assessment, I will come up with a comprehensive strategy for you to organize your space, your home and your life, on your own terms and your own time frame.

Photo Organizing

We all have one, hidden in the back corner of a closet. That big tub full of old photos that remind you of the better times. R&O has the expertise and resources to see the project through, making sure that your precious memories are preserved and accessible for years to come. Once this project is off your to-do list you'll be ready to go on vacation and take more pictures!

Full Moves / Packing / Unpacking

Moving is the one of the most stressful event in life. Let R&O be your worry stone by facilitating every aspect of your move. From helping you pack and stay on track so you don’t end up frantic the day before the movers show up, to unpacking every box so you can feel at home in your new space. We’ll even help you find the perfect moving company to transport your belongings with coverage and care. Your moving process will be easier than it’s ever been!

Spatial Assessment

Don’t clean up prior to the initial visit; it is much more helpful to see your home in all its natural glory! Your organizer will walk through your home with you and encourage you to talk freely about what the space is not providing, what is bothering you, what drives you crazy, and what helps you stay organized. After this assessment, your Organizer will prepare a proposal and email it to you within a couple days for approval.

Sort & Categorize

You and your organizer will empty out the spaces you have prioritized. For every item that comes out, it will be given a category: Keep (including items that should change rooms), Toss (trash & recycling), Donations, or Pending. These categories usually expand and evolve as the organizing process continues. If you're anxious about making the tough decisions, don't worry, that's part of our job: to provide emotional support. Once each item is with its friends, we are ready to Rise & Organize!

Strategize & Organize

Before putting items back (in an orderly fashion!), you and your Organizer will talk about how the space will be used, what the functionality of the area will be, and how you - as an individual - operate on a day to day basis. This step is crucial in creating a space that will be functional for you and that you will be able to maintain with as little effort as possible. There may need to be a shopping list if there are tools or containers that are necessary for completing the project.

Donate & Consign

Your Organizer will take as many donations/consignments that she can fit in her car at the end of each session. For larger items and bigger projects, we will happily arrange for a donations pick up and/or junk removal. R&O works with a handful of local consignment shops and will transport the items.

A brief history of our RISE in the organizing industry

CEO & Lead Organizer Helen Preston

One day while I was organizing my home office, filing papers and categorizing my junk drawers, I had a realization: while most people find organizing tedious, I find the activity enjoyable and gratifying. At first, this ephiphany made me feel a bit like a weirdo. Now I see I was using a skill that I could develop into a new career. When people say to "do what you love", most tend to overlook the skills they naturally use on a day-to-day basis, such as being organized. When it comes down to it, I am grateful I have found a way to make a living doing something I love. The best part is I've found a job that provides oppurtunities to help people.

In addition to the organizing work I do, I also volunteer my time and home to help manage the homeless cat population. Please get your pets spayed or neutered! I am happy to provide you low-cost resources so you can help in this effort too. Feel free to contact me below!
